OOKUBODERA

Kashihara-shi,Ookubo

Only the central foundation stone of the pagoda (toshinso) remains, together with some tiles from the middle part of the 7th century which are similar to those from the Yamadadera. The name of this temple appears in the Nihon shoki among references to events of the year 686. It was perhaps a "clan temple" (ujidera) of the Okubo clan, descendents of continental immigrants.
